We provide complete groundworks solutions to residential and commercial sector clients nationwide and we are proud to have earned our place as the UK leader in innovative groundworks supply. Consequently, we do not readily welcome or accept being delayed by equipment breakdowns or poor performance from contractors. It is against this background that we offer these comments about Phill Kingston and AESS.

In a nutshell, he is a very useful guy. He seems able to turn his hand to just about anything.

It’s probably fair to say that, where big machine installations are concerned, there will always be unforeseen problems, regardless of how carefully the operation is planned and prepared. For example, AESS installed two GAM automatic pile cage machines for us – a 15 metre and an 18 metre. As ever, problems cropped up that weren’t expected. They were exactly the kind of snags that would have had plenty of engineers dead stumped. But Phill Kingston overcame every single obstacle methodically, calmly and without a fuss. That’s what we like and what we appreciate.

We’ve had a few breakdowns in the past where original equipment design just wasn’t up to the demands of the working environment. On one occasion we suffered frequent problems with a helical machine that was repeatedly destroying gearboxes. We kept replacing them only for the same thing to happen again. The downtime was bad enough but the repair costs were a nightmare! We asked Phill to look at the problem. He came up with a solution that was simple and completely effective. The next machine we bought came with Phill’s solution built into the design.

His contribution is such that I sometimes think of Phill as a member of staff. There have been times when I wish he was.

Phill seems capable of understanding and fixing just about any problem on any type of machine. We regard him as a very knowledgeable man and certainly one of the best engineers in the UK.
